Debra Lee Trappey, 72, died at 12:05 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born April 22, 1953 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the daughter of the late Leo and Georgia (Pence) Telkamp.
Debra worked for many years at Central Hardware and for the Alton School District as a bus monitor. On September 15, 1979 in Alton, she married Steve Trappey and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Amber Hatten (Jonathan) of Alton, two grandchildren, Keegan and Kameren Hatten, one brother, Mike Telkamp, three sisters, Gayle Tolen-Gutierrez (Greg) of Godfrey, Leora Duncan of Alton, Tonya Ebrey (Lee) and her stepmother, Nancy Telkamp of Wood River.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Telkamp and one sister, Darlene Mabry.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice.
