Deborah Vonnahmen

Deborah Maryann (DeSherlia) Vonnahmen, 67, died at 5:45 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center after a period of declining health.She was born in Alton on Nov. 29, 1948, and was one of five children born to late James H. & Lora May (Palmer) DeSherlia.Deborah graduated in 1966 from Jersey Community High School, and was employed for over 20 years as a cashier at Shop 'n Save in Alton, where she enjoyed her co workers and customers, all of whom became friends.She married James Vonnahmen of July 3, 1971 in Alton, and together they have shared 44 years.Surviving are her husband, James Vonnahmen of Bethalto; a son, Jason Vonnahmen of Wood River; a daughter, Stacey Gaither of Brighton; four grandchildren, Brianne, Sierra, Cassidy, Scarlet; two brothers, James DeSherlia of Streator and Eric DeSherlia of Jerseyville; and two sisters, Pamela Bick of Grafton and Kimberly Camerer of High Ridge, Mo.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Private gravesdie services will be conducted on Saturday at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Alton.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
