Deborah Gasser

Deborah "Debbie" Gasser, age 64 of Greenville, passed away January 17, 2026, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.

Deborah “Debbie” Lea Gasser was born on October 3, 1961, in Dearborn, Michigan. She was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Ruth Ann Myers. Growing up as one of three siblings, Debbie shared her childhood with her brothers, Mark (Lia) Myers and Don (Jenny) Myers, who survive her today.

On January 23, 1982, Debbie married Mark Wesley Gasser Sr. at the Greenville Free Methodist Church. Their union has been a testament to enduring love, spanning 44 years. Together, they raised three children: Rebecca (Andy) Bennett of Greenville; Mark (Randi) Wesley Gasser Jr. of St. Peter, Illinois; Christina (Jeremy) Haas of Chicago, Illinois; and foster daughter Rachel Tanner (married to Marc) of Vandalia, Illinois.

Debbie’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ashleigh, Will, Alix, Audrey, Madi, Maci, Landon, Corbin, Taylor, Logan, Skyler, Paisley, and Rae-lynn.

Debbie was dedicated to learning and service. She graduated from Greenville College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She then pursued nursing at Kaskaskia College, earning her associate’s degree. Debbie devoted her professional life to caring for others, working as a nurse at Utlaut Memorial, Christian Northeast, Greenville Regional, and Holy Family Hospital.

Debbie and Mark were devoted members of the Greenville Free Methodist Church. Debbie’s faith was evident in her many roles within the church community—singing in the choir, playing the handbells, and serving on the missions committee. She was actively involved with Eden’s Glory for several years and found joy serving as the camp nurse at Durley Youth Camp for many years.

A Celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Greenville Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Durley Camp. Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
