Deborah Gail Walter, 61, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at her home in Moro. Born March 7, 1956 in Alton, she was the daughter of the late Gaye (Elliott) Huber and Donald Huber (Mary Ann) of Bethalto. Deborah retired from Shell Credit Union as a comptroller after 25 years of service and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto. She loved to travel and play Bunco dice. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and was a member of the “Stamp It Up” Club. She opened “Metal Mamma’s” painting business with her good friends, Michelle Ohlson, Dawn Schallenberg and Linda Rich. On January 17, 1975 she married Rick Walter in Alton. He survives. Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Ashley Walter of Bethalto, one grandson, Gunnar Hodge Walter, one brother, Jeffery Huber of Moro and his good friend Keri, two sisters, Donna Gruver (Lionel) of Phoenix, AZ, and Stephanie Journey of Alton, one step-sister, Lisa Pagliaro (Joe) of Summerville, SC, seven nieces and nephews, Brock Huber, Nick Gruver, Nate Gruver, Whitney Gruver, Jennifer, Kyle and Tiffany and two step nephews, Joey and Nicholas Pagliaro. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace where a funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017. Father Thomas Liebler will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
