Deanne Holzberlein passed January 4, 2018 at 12:15 a.m. She was a person known for her interest in seeing others succeed. When she was an undergrad in college, she caught the eye of the man she married when she enthusiastically helped other students in the library.
She worked hard to get her doctorate in Library Science so that she could teach the future generation of librarians how to help others succeed.
In her day, besides teaching at Ball State University and later Northern Illinois University, she wrote books on cataloguing unique items such as records, toys, and antique items as well as gave presentations at library conferences.
After she retired, she became known as the energizer bunny – zipping around in her little red Honda to activities such as tutoring for Project Read, serving at the Christian Science Reading Room with her dog Charlie, learning sign language, becoming a master gardener etc… If it piqued her interest, she would try it out.
She was always willing to go on an adventure if one was suggested. Her enthusiasm for life will be missed.
