Dean Hart, 89, died at 6:44 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Dean was born January 25, 1937 to Fred and Helen (Adcock) Hart in Hagaman, IL.
Dean worked on Allis Chalmers Tractors for 39 years. He started working for JC Archers in Shipman, IL, where he earned the title of shop foreman and drove their semi truck. He drove school buses for Southwestern school district, and he was a van driver for the seniors with Illinois Valley.
He met and married Charlene Dyer in 1988. Dean is survived by his wife, Charlene of 37 ½ years of marriage.
He is also survived by two sons, Gary, Russell (Lesa) Hart, two daughters, Lynne (Dave) Jokers, Stephanie McGowen, two stepsons, Gary (Sue) Dyer, Kevin Dyer, one brother, Carol Hart, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Randell, Bradley, stepson, Brian Dyer, grandson, Corey Hart, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Woodland Hill Cemetery in Wood River. Pastor Daniel Sternquist will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Bladder Cancer Society or Brown Street Baptist Church or Charity of one’s choice.
