David Roberson

David "Dave" M. Roberson, 85 of Bethalto, IL, formerly of Prairietown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 5:10pm at Cedarhurst of Bethalto. Born July 26, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL, to the late Rev. Millard & Juanita (Trail) Roberson. On June 24, 1967 he married Judith Weishaupt at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown, IL. She proceeded him in death on September 24, 2015. 

Dave retired from Granite City Steel as a Hod Carrier in 2003. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran church in Prairietown, IL. Dave had a passion for his motorcycle and was a member of the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) in East Alton, IL. He was also a member of GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) chapters E and O. Dave was a retired volunteer firefighter for the Prairietown Fire Department. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed social events where he would attend Fireman’s functions, Fish Fries, Friday night dancing and coffee mornings with his friends at McDonald’s.  Prior to Judy’s passing he enjoyed traveling, entertaining people at their house where they would play cards for hours. In the summertime, Dave enjoyed planting and taking care of his garden. Dave was extremely handy and wasn’t scared to take on any project around the house or on his car, but whether he got them finished was a different story. 

Dave also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren in which he was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments. Brooke Prott and Kole Dugger of East Alton. Dave was also very proud of his Great Granddaughter Octavia Reynolds of East Alton, IL and enjoyed showing her off and letting everyone know she was his Great Grand Daughter. 

Dave is survived by his children: Sarah Chavez and her husband Ben of St. Louis, MO and Doug Roberson and his partner Josh Brown of Moro, IL. His brothers Daniel and wife Barbara of St. Jacob, IL, Phillip Roberson and wife Norma of Affton, MO, Tim Roberson and his wife Sandra of Farmington, MO, his sister Sharon Kugler and husband Bob of Granite City, IL, his sister Joyce Barbeau of Lucerne Valley, CA and many nieces and nephews.

Dave is proceeded in death by his wife Judy, his twin sons Scott and Bradley, his parents Millard and Juanita, his brother John and two sisters Marlene and Louise and their spouses.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 9:30 am until service at 11 am, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown. Pastor Oliver LaMie will officiate.

Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran Church and/or the Prairietown Fire Department.
