David Rintoul

Wood River |

David "Rudy" Franklin Rintoul, formerly of Wood River, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at HSHS St. John Hospital in Springfield, due to complications following surgery.

Born in Alton on April 12, 1965, he was the son of Franklin E. and Helen M. (Mize) Rintoul.

David was nicknamed, "Rudy" sometime in the 1980s by friends and family, and the name stuck.

Rudy kept up with many friends from his youth, as well as making a lot of friends while he worked at Olin Corporation for 34 years. Most of these were life-time friends, many of whom have reached out with an outpouring of love during his extended hospital stay. He loved hunting, fishing, and having family gatherings at his property in Sorento. In addition, he had a love for four-legged friends: cats and dogs. Rudy enjoyed going to sporting events and concerts.

He touched many lives, and was loved by many.

Surviving are a bother, Greg (Gina) Rintoul of Hartford; sister, Tracy (David) McEuen of Godfrey; two nephews, Kyle McEuen, Andrew Rintoul; and a great nephew, Abram Quiller (father, Marq).

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a very special niece, Jessica (McEuen) Quiller.

Memorial visitation will be from 1-4 pm, Sunday, April 21 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
