David Joe Reed, 72, of Alton, IL passed away at 7:19 p.m. Sat. Aug. 29, 2026 at Bria of Alton.
He was born July 7, 1954 in Alton, IL to the late Marcella Rose (Purcell) Smith and Lloyd Reed, Jr.
David was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked remodeling and refurbishing train cars. Following his retirement, he worked for Hershey’s as a candy packer. He was very artistic and loved to draw and fish.
He is survived by a daughter: Angelique Reed; 4 siblings: Lloyd L. Reed of Alton, Kevin (Rosemary) Reed of Brighton, IL, Jeffrey (Alicia) Reed of Bonsall, CA and Jennifer (David) Cooper of Otterville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Kaimann.
Memorial visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, IL.
