David Preston

David Gail Preston, 69, of Belleville, IL born Sunday, July 8, 1956, in Springfield, IL, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Memorial Hospital West in Belleville, IL.

Known to loved ones simply as “Gail”. He lived a humble life filled with simple joys. Gail worked as an automotive service mechanic for over 50 years, and most recently worked for Stein Automotive. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Harley Davidson enthusiast, he found peace and happiness in the outdoors and on the open road. Some of his favorite memories were spent with his children-especially with his son Rick, affectionately known by his sisters as “Dad’s best friend.” when not with family, Gail could often be found cruising along winding roads, taking in the most scenic views from his motorcycle. Gail leaves behind so many close childhood friends and riding friends that remained dear to him throughout his life. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. Rest easy, Dad!
