On March 18, 2024, David Frederick Ollenbittle Sr. passed away surrounded by loved ones at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Those of us left behind mourn this great loss. David was born May 3, 1947, in North Tonawanda, New York. The son of Fredrick and Ila Ruth Ollenbittle.
Following high school, David attended Cornell University. During this time, he enlisted in The United States Air Force to serve his country during the Vietnam War. While based at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida he met the love of his life and wife of 52 years Linda Zuniga. Tampa, Florida is where he began his family before moving to Alton, IL.
Following his service, he became the Administrative Director of Radiology of various hospitals, including Clearwater Community Hospital in Tampa, FL, Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL and Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country, Mo. David is survived by his wife Linda (Zuniga) Ollenbittle.
Oldest daughter, Kelly (Ollenbittle) Davis (Jeremy) and their children Laney, Lexie, and Andrew. Oldest son David F. Ollenbittle Jr. (Jessy) and their children Emily, David III, Sam, Jack, and Katie. Youngest daughter Elizabeth Ollenbittle and her children Tillie and Tatum Heinlein. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Sharon Wilson and her children Matt, Joe, and Alexa. David is preceded in death by his son Anthony “Tony” Ollenbittle. Parents Fred and Ila Ruth Ollenbittle. Siblings James Hamilton, Patricia Babcock, and Audrey Stowers. Father and mother-in-law Manuel and Elizabeth Zuniga. Brother-in-laws Paul Zuniga and Phil Lopez. Son-in-law Ryan Heinlein.
A memorial visitation will be held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024.
