David Lee Hellemeyer Jr

David Lee Hellemeyer Jr., died at 9:58 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

David was born to David Lee Sr. and Pauline Esther (Whittington) Hellemeyer on January 2, 1954 in Wood River Illinois.

David attended school at Civic Memorial High school where met his wife, Ruthann. They quickly became high school sweethearts and were married October 7, 1972. This fall they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.

After high school, David was a jack of all trades, working as a maintenance man, mechanic, builder, and, finally, owner/operator of Jade Screen Printing in Alton for over 20 years.

David leaves many loved ones behind, including his wife, Ruthann (Rives) Hellemeyer; children Jennifer (Hellemeyer) Huang and Stephanie Hellemeyer; daughter-in-law Jennifer Boyd, and son-in-law Jim Huang; grandchildren Megan Huang, Alexander Huang, and Jack Hellemeyer; brother Steven Hellemeyer; and sisters Kimberly Nettleton, Karen Govero, Leslie Vannoy, and Rebecca Hellemeyer.

David’s joy in life was spent being a devoted and caring husband as well as a wonderful father and grandfather. Family was always his number one priority. His goal in life was to make sure his family knew they were loved beyond measure and he met this goal without fail. His love for those around him will be missed, but not forgotten.

David was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

Visitation for David will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held on 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Reverend Lynn Spicer will officiate.
