David J. Floerke, 75, went to be with God on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 6:33 am.
He was born on May 5, 1945, in Red Bud, Il; a son of Elmer and Alida Buss Floerke.
David was at one time a Seminarian with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, until he decided to marry and start a family. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Spanish Translator. David then earned a BA in English literature from St. Louis University. He worked for Hutchinson Foundry for many years as a Shipping Clerk. David was a man of faith and service, and valued Catholic education. He was an informal student of astronomy and took pleasure in showing his children the many stars and planets. He enjoyed reading and building model airplanes and boats. And will be remembered for his unquie gifts of $2 bills for birthdays and holidays.
He is survived by his children, Andrew Floerke (Katina Bruggeman) of St. Cloud, MN, Carolyn Mar (Alfredo) of Prospect Heights, IL, Anna Scheid (Daniel) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Stephen Floerke (Brenna) of Collinsville, IL; 8 grandchildren, Damian and Simon Floerke, Isabella and Samuel Mar, Henry, Clare, and Eamon Scheid, and Julien Frith; along with a sister, Shirley Cook of Wilton, IA; and a brother, Robert 'Bob' Floerke of Waterloo, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roy and James Floerke.
Per David's wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
