As a dedicated civic leader who served the City of O’Fallon as Treasurer for more than 25 cumulative years, David earned the distinction of O’Fallon’s most tenured elected official. He first served by appointment from 1991 to 1993 before returning to the position in February 2003, following his appointment by Mayor Gary Graham. David was then elected by the citizens of O’Fallon in six consecutive elections, a testament to the trust and confidence the community placed in him. In addition to his service as Treasurer, he served on the O’Fallon Police and Fire Pension Boards and as Treasurer of the Southern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (SILEC).
David was a longtime, faithful member of O’Fallon First United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous boards and participated in building campaigns throughout the years. His faith was central to his life, and he found great joy in music, especially at church.
Professionally, David brought more than 50 years of experience in transportation, distribution, and supply chain logistics. Throughout his distinguished career, he held senior executive positions with Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads, MCS, National Piggyback, American President Lines, C.H. Robinson, MARK VII, and EXEL. He also served for many years on the Agent’s Board of Directors and was a long-term member of the St. Louis Traffic Club.
David was an active member of East Lodge No. 504 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies, and Ainad Shriners, where he found fulfillment in serving others and giving back to his community. He also served on the fundraising committee for the O’Fallon YMCA. Outside of his many professional and civic commitments, David cherished time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed his many interests, including his love of cars and car shows, watching and attending sporting events, and fishing on the White River.
