David G. Kamp, 82, died at 8:10 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Golden Eagle on June 9, 1932, one of ten children born to the late Tobias & Dora (Hagen) Kamp.
David was employed as a union carpenter for many years with Local #97 retiring in 1993, and was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
He married the former Blanche Gotway on May 29, 1954 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Michael, and together the two have shared 60 years together and the joys of raising their two daughters.
Surviving are his wife, Blanche Kamp of Jerseyville; two daughters & sons in law, Susan & Chris Dunham and Cindy & David McIver all of Jerseyville; three grandchildren & their spouses, Rebecca & Logan Wayne, Katie & John Schnettgoecke, and Justin & Whitney McIver all of Jerseyville; two great granddaughters, Lila & Ruby Wayne; a sister, Ruth Haug of Wood River; two brothers, Greg Kamp of Golden Eagle and William Kamp of Batchtown; two sisters in law, Suzanne Kamp of Batchtown, and Beatrice Kamp of Hardin; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tobias Kamp Jr. and Jim Kamp; four sisters, Marie Odneal, Winifred Druba, Leona Haselhorst, and Margie Keraghan; and his beloved canine companion, Babe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with a Rosary Recitation at 3:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Holy Ghost Catholic
Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the St. Jude's Hospital or to Masses.
