David Bruce Crawford

SPRINGFIELD-David Bruce Crawford, aged 79, formerly of Greenfield,  died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, IL with his family at his side. Bruce was born in Kane, IL on February 15, 1936 to Dual A & Elna (Mowrey) Crawford. He was one of three sons. Raised in Kane, Bruce graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1954. He began his career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and clerk in Jerseyville, IL. In 1981 he was promoted to Postmaster at the Post Office in Greenfield, IL where he served until his retirement in 1996. Bruce's interests were varied. He enjoyed singing with the Carrollton Community Choir and riding his motorcycle throughout the United States. He was an avid card player and could often be found at the Kane American Legion where he enjoyed time with friends and fellow card players. Bruce married the former Sandra Landon and together they had three daughters. Surviving Bruce is his ex-wife Sandra and their daughters and spouses: Crystal and Raymond Hodge of Springfield, Karen and Thomas Kuhn of Springfield, Nancy and David Jockisch of San Jose, IL, seven grandchildren: Jessica, Kellie, Lauren, Evan, Aaron, David and Matthew and three great- grand children, his brother and sister-in-law Carl and Janet Crawford of Jerseyville and and friend and ex-wife Sylvia Crawford. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and an infant borther, Robert Dual Crawford.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p .m.Sunday, June 12 at the Crawford funeral home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at11 a.m.Monday, June 13 at the Kane Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church or to the Alzheimers Association.
