David Branscome

David Michael “Fuzz” Branscome, age 59, of Sorento, passed away on November 7, 2025, doing what he and his beloved black labrador, Bella, loved most – spending time together in the great outdoors.

Born November 23, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, David was the son of the late Fred “Kirby” Branscome and Elaine Ann Huber Branscome. His father’s service in the United States Air Force meant that David’s early years were spent in several places, including Alexandria, Louisiana, and Columbus, Ohio, before the family settled in Greenville, Illinois in 1977.

A 1984 graduate of Greenville High School – known affectionately by friends and family as “Fuzz” – had a lifelong love of farming. He especially cherished the time spent as a young boy with Grandpa Clyde Huber on the family farm, where his appreciation for the land and hard work took root.

David’s career reflected his hands-on nature and love of the outdoors. He worked in maintenance at the Sea Gull Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, before moving to Tennessee, where he was employed on country artist Gretchen Wilson’s Ranch. He later returned to Bond County, where he made his home at the time of his passing. David was a member of the Rod and Gun Club in Greenville.

David is survived by his mother, Elaine, brother Dale (Jo) Branscome; and his nephews, Kort Kirby (Liz) Branscome and Kaleb Michael Branscome. He was preceded in death by his father Kirby. David also leaves behind his devoted dog and companion, Bella.

David will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast friendship, and deep love of farming, the outdoors, and time spent with those he held dear. His warmth and easygoing nature will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, at Brown Cemetery. Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Memorials are asked to be made to Elaine Branscome, c/o Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home, 203 West Oak, Greenville, Illinois.
