Darrell Weible

Darrell Ray “Bob” Weible, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:32 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born March 20, 1940, in St. Francis County, Missouri, a son of the late Eugene Gentry and Iva Margaret (Pierce) Weible.  Bob retired in 2004, from the Missouri Department of Corrections after 5 years of service as a correctional officer.  He had also worked as a salesman for Sue’s Coffee Shop in Bonne Terre, Missouri from 1990 until 1998 and had also worked as a salesman in the insurance industry from 1960 until 1990.  He was a former member of the Granite City Jaycee’s and the Kiwanis Club.  He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the St. Louis Blues hockey.  He also enjoyed horse races, fishing and playing cards and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.  Bob is survived by his former wife and friend, Janis Kathleen (Easter) Weible of Granite City, Illinois; daughter, Kathy Weible of Granite City, Illinois; son, Kenneth Weible of Illinois; former daughter-in-law, Judy Tudor of Collinsville, Illinois; five grandchildren and their spouses, Krystal and Jarod McMillian of Troy, Illinois, Bryan and Stephanie Parker of Granite City, Illinois, Brittany and Brett Becherer of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Debra and Derek Rhoads of Springfield, Illinois and Robert Weible of Collinsville, Illinois; seven great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Emma, Elliott, Cooper, Lucas, Phoenix and Callen; five siblings and their spouses, Ed and Mary Lee Weible of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Cheryl Weible of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Sam and Jeannie Weible of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Patti and Tom O’Connor of St. Louis, Missouri and Vicki and Duane Byington of Bonne Terre, Missouri; sister-in-law, Linda Ann Weible of Pennsylvania; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Weible; two brothers, Ken Weible and Billy Lee Weible and two dear friends, Stella Stirnaman and Becky Huddleston.

In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.  www.irwinchapel.com
