Darlene Faye Palovchik, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at LaBella of Edwardsville.
Born January 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Eula Madean (Grindstaff) King Jr.
She married Donald R. Palovchik on August 30, 1969, and he passed away on June 18, 2003.
Darlene retired in 2007 from U.S. Bank after 42 years of dedicated service as a teller. She was a longtime faithful member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City and enjoyed many travels with the Granite City Township Seniors. She also enjoyed her days of reading and bowling and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a sister, Lelan Hefner of Edwardsville; three nieces, Romona Hefner of Glen Carbon, Rebecca Anderson of Edwardsville and Robin Bainter of Sikeston, Missouri; a nephew, Brady Kent Hefner of Collinsville; a stepdaughter, Tammy Houser of Tennessee; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Perry Matheny.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, with Pastor Jarad Corzine officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
