Danny Miller

Danny William Miller, age 76, of Granite City, IL, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Born on April 23, 1949, in Geff, IL, Danny was the son of the late Chester Leon Miller and Pearl Martha Helen (Haws) Miller.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Danny honorably served his country as a Spec 4 medic in the United States Army at Fort Hood, TX, from 1969 to 1971. His compassion, courage, and dedication to caring for others defined his service—and would continue to shape the rest of his life.

On February 8, 1973, Danny married the love of his life, Pamela K. Jarvis, in Granite City, IL. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in faith, love, and unwavering devotion, celebrating 52 blessed years side by side. Danny was a faithful member of Calvary Life Church, where he joyfully served the Lord and found deep fulfillment in his church family.

Danny dedicated 38 years of loyal service to Granite City Steel, retiring as a heater operator on the hot strip in 2008. Known for his strong work ethic, big heart, and warm smile, Danny never met a stranger. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, seen, and appreciated.

He treasured time spent with his family going on trips, laughing often, and sharing stories, Danny especially treasured trips to Reelfoot Lake, where he found peace in nature and joy in casting a line. Above all, his greatest pride and happiness came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom lit up his world. Spoiling them was not just a pastime, it was a calling he embraced wholeheartedly.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon McCain.

He leaves behind a legacy of love in his devoted wife, Pamela Miller of Granite City, IL; his beloved children, Laura (Gerald) Boyles of Granite City, IL, Gregory Miller of Granite City, IL, and Liz (Jason) Vickery of Granite City, IL; his dear siblings, David (Beverly) Miller, Jimmy (Penny) Miller, Sheila Miller, Ronald (Shirley) Miller, and Donald (Chris) Miller; and his cherished mother-in-law, Patsy Hilligoss.

Danny was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Kyle) Melton, Annabeth O’Connell, Mitchell Boyle, Owen Vickery, and Brooke Vickery, and a delighted great-grandfather to Silas Melton, Sawyer Melton, Ellory O’Connell, and Oliver O’Connell. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched.

A graveside service celebrating Danny’s remarkable life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Pastor Mark Maynard will officiate, and the United States Army will render full military honors. Family and friends are invited to gather at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, IL, at 10:15 a.m. The funeral procession will depart for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

Danny’s family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of BJC Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness shown during his final journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Life Church in Granite City, IL.
