Daniel Frank Compton, 61, of Grafton passed away Tuesday, November 4th, 2015 after a courageous 14 year battle with brain cancer. He passed away at Alton memorial hospital surrounded by his family. He was born August 17th 1954 to Francis "Jerry " and Beulah (Clanney) Compton. Danny graduated in 1973 from Jersey Community High School. Soon after he married Sandra McIntire and they started their family. They had 2 daughters and Danny devoted his life to his daughters. Danny started working at Alton box board, which later changed to mead packaging. He worked there until they closed their doors in 2007. He continued to work in the same field until being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2001 forcing him into early retirement. He is survived by his daughters Michele (Craig) Brannon of Jerseyville and Brandy Compton of Grafton; Six grandchildren Jared (Kelsey) Byrd, Chelseah Byrd, Casey Turner, Brittani Turner, Eden Turner all of Jerseyville and Caleb Schulte of Alton; Two great grandchildren Jayce Byrd and Makailynn Byrd both of Jerseyville; One sister Linda (Jim) Morgan; Three brothers Anthony, Robert and Brian Compton all of Grafton; Five nieces Carrie (Chris) Weimers of East Alton, Jamie (Greg) Wells of Moro, Tracie Morgan of Belleville, Samantha (Brandon) Robertson of Jerseyville and EmaleeCompton of Grafton; One great niece Brooklyn Robertson of Jerseyville; and two great nephews Zachary and Connor Wells of Moro. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Compton and two grandsons Joshua Matthew Byrd and Rickey Edward Callahan II. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Memorial Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Monday November 9, 2015 at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
