Daniel L. Forguson, 78, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away on September 19, 2025. He was born in Granite City, Illinois, on December 14, 1946, to the late Garnet “Ed” and Mildred “Pearl” (Greenlee) Forguson.
He married the love of his life, Anita Marie (Guyer) Forguson on July 13, 1966, in Nashville, Illinois and she survives.
Daniel was a proud graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where he earned his degree before becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His career began at Price Waterhouse and continued with positions at May Company and Anders, Minkler and Diehl. In 1982, he and Ken Diel established their own firm, Diel and Forguson, PC, in O'Fallon, Illinois, where he served the community with integrity for many years. He finished his career as a financial consultant for Cope Marine in O’Fallon, Illinois.
Beyond his professional life, Daniel was deeply committed to his community. He was a dedicated past board member for the Hoyelton Children's Home Foundation and a past member of the O'Fallon Rotary Club, serving as past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. A Paul Harris Fellow is a recognition from The Rotary Foundation that honors individuals who have contributed to the organization's humanitarian and educational programs and exemplifies the mission of “service above self”. He had also served as a board member and treasurer with the Affton Grace Bible Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
Daniel found immense joy in his passions, which included his classic Austin Healey sports car, restoring vintage tractors, boating, and fishing. His greatest love, however, was his family. He cherished the time spent with them at their cabin on Bull Shoals Lake in northern Arkansas, creating treasured memories that will be held close by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Anita, he is survived by his children, Erin (Mark) Woodson and Eric (Cecilia) Forguson; his grandchildren, Kyle (Megan Gula – fiancé) Geringer , Hannah (Dillon)Adams, Jacob Geringer, Randy (Amanda) Forguson, Michael (Kyleigh Wellman – fiancé) Forguson and Patrick Woodson; and his great-grandchildren, Holly Gula, Nash Adams, Bennett Forguson, and Delilah Forguson. Daniel is also survived by his siblings, Ed (Pat) Forguson, Dale (Nor) Forguson, Sheree (Greg) Moutria, and Doug (Connie) Forguson.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Garnet (Ed) and Mildred (Pearl) Forguson, and his brother, David Forguson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Association or charity of choice.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Illinois on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Irwin Chapel on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert Semanik officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
