Dale Arden Hilyard

Dale Arden Hilyard, 82, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, October 07, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.  Born Aug. 7, 1928 in Windom, Minn., he was a son of Arden Moore and Hattie Marie (Searles) Hilyard.

He married M. Laverl Quarton March 26, 1950 in Macoupin County, Ill.  She survives.  Together they were longtime members of Faith Bible Church in Greenfield while Dale served as elder of the church.  He also attended Crosspoint Baptist Church in South Roxana.  He was a farmer, and had also worked for Pioneer Seed Company.  In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Paul Lorton of St. Charles, Mo., Brenda and Hershel Taylor and Lori Hilyard, all of East Alton; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Erin Lorton, Nathan and Ashley Lorton, Aaron Lorton, Melissa and Art Atkinson, Brian and Brandy Taylor, Jason and Misty Taylor, Ashley and Trevor Walraven, and Joshua Farrow; 11 great grandchildren, Wesley and Owen Lorton, Tyler, Emily and Mason Atkinson, Corey, Chase, Mackenzie and Matthew Taylor, and Riley and Zoey Farrow; a niece, Shirley Daniel of Mississippi; and two nephews, Steven Hilyard of Hawaii and Doug Hilyard of California.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Byron and Lee Hilyard.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  Reverends Brian Gruen and Richard Clouse will officiate services at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11 at the funeral home.

Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. at Medora Cemetery in Medora.

Memorials may be made to Faith Bible Church in Greenfield or Crosspoint Baptist Church in South Roxana.
