Curtis Howland

Curtis "Curt" Lee Howland, 71, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Born on August 17, 1954, in Granite City, Curt was the beloved son of the late John E. and Virginia Lee (Hobbs) Howland. He spent his life in the community he loved, building lasting friendships and creating treasured memories with those closest to him.

On June 12, 1991, Curt married Doris (Creek) Revelle in Edwardsville, Illinois. Together they shared thirty-five wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Doris was truly the love of his life, and together they built a family that remained the center of Curt's world.

Curt retired from Granite City Steel after many years of dedicated service as a painter. While he worked hard throughout his career, he knew how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. In his younger years, he loved fishing and camping, finding peace in the outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race, enjoyed riding his Harley whenever he could, and found happiness taking long drives simply to sit beside a quiet lake and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Above all else, Curt treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He had a warm heart, an infectious laugh, and an easygoing spirit that made everyone around him feel welcome. Whether sharing stories, enjoying a meal, or simply spending time together, he made every moment meaningful. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and the memories he leaves behind will be cherished forever.

In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by his beloved stepson, Shawn Revelle.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Doris Howland of Granite City, Illinois; his loving children, Shawn (Christy) Howland of Dittmer, Missouri, and Jamie Dugan of Granite City, Illinois; his dear stepson, Dennis "Butch" Revelle of Granite City, Illinois; his beloved siblings, Linda (Dennis) Isaak, Sharon (Dennis) Howland, and Randy (Carol) Howland, all of Granite City, Illinois; six cherished grandchildren; six treasured great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Though his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in the many wonderful memories he created throughout his life. His kindness, humor, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for those around him will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

In accordance with Curt's wishes, he was cremated, and no formal services will be held. A Celebration of Life dinner will be announced and held at a later date.

His family invites those who knew and loved Curt to remember him with a smile, a story, and the same appreciation for life's simple moments that he embraced every day.
