Cora Bufe

Cora H. Bufe, age 93, of Bethalto, IL, passed away at 6:23 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Cedarhurst of Edwardsville.

She was born on March 20, 1927, in Moro, IL, the daughter of the late Chris and Gertrude (Lerche) Kruckeberg.

Cora married Carl Eberhart on March 20, 1947 at Midway Church. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1971. She then married George Bufe on November 24, 1973 in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1986.

Cora is survived by her son, Dr. Steven Eberhart, of Murphysboro, IL; daughter, Mary Buethe, of Fairview Heights, IL; one granddaughter, Nacole Buethe-Wilcox, of Alton, IL, and three great grandchildren, Aaron, Tommy, and Annabelle.

Besides her parents and both husbands, Cora was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth (Hertha) Kruckeberg, Walter (Ruth) Kruckeberg, and James (Jody) Kruckeberg and one sister, Nora (Bill) Imes.

Cora retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland after 14 years as a respiratory therapist. She was a member at Eden Church in Edwardsville and involved with the Women’s Guild Circle 6. Cora also was a milliner, did needlepoint, and enjoyed traveling around the United States and overseas.

A private family graveside will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL, with Rev. John Roberts presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Eden Church or The Heart Fund.
