Connie D. Sheppard, 70, of Bethalto, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 1:34 pm, at Alton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.
She was born on August 23, 1949, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Lester and Arlene (Bond) Little. She married Mike S. Sheppard in Gillespie on June 1, 1968.
Connie was a member of the American Paint Horse Association, Illinois and Missouri Paint Horse Club. Connie and Mike established Sheppard Training Farms in 1969, where they raised, trained and showed American Paint horses throughout the United States, up until their retirement in 2013.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Kim (Heather Gulledge) Sheppard of Bethalto and Steve (Kimett) Sheppard of Ocala, FL; grand dog, Big Boy; two grand cats, Thelma and Louise; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannine Isenberg; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Sheppard.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11 am. Family friend, Bill Brown, will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
