Conchita King

Conchita Connie King, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her home in Highland, IL.

She was born on Thursday, January 23, 1936, in Madison, IL, the daughter of Ramon and Ann (nee Schmid) Garcia.

On Friday, June 17, 1955, she married Edward C. "Ed" King in Granite City, Illinois, who survives.

Connie was born and raised in Madison, IL, later moving to Granite City, IL. She met her husband, Ed, on a blind date. They were married just two weeks later. After marriage she and her husband moved to California, then moved to Staunton, IL and in 1998 settled in Highland. She was adored by her family.

Connie loved taking care of her family and taught her children to be kind and compassionate to others. She was an amazing listener and would always know just the right thing to say for any given situation. Connie enjoyed crocheting and her family still appreciates the warmth of the many blankets she created. She enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes. Connie loved working outside, especially tending to her many flowers, roses being her favorite. Along with sharing starters of her flowers with others, she lovingly planted many starters given to her.

  • Sister - Rosemarie Vandermeade, New Port Richey, FL
  • Grandchild - Phillip M. (Amanda) King
  • Grandchild - Emily (Devin) Johnson
  • Grandchild - Sarah Mues
  • Grandchild - Carissa King
  • Great Grandchild - Silas Johnson
  • Great Grandchild - Quinn Johnson
  • Great Grandchild - Ellie Anne Johnson
  • Great Grandchild – Max Johnson
  • Nieces and Nephews - Many

She was preceded in death by:

  • Father - Ramon Garcia
  • Stepmother - Ann Garcia, nee Schmid
  • Brother-In-Law - Robert King
  • Sister-In-Law - Barbara Ziegler
  • Sister-In-Law - Ruth Schramek
  • Sister-In-Law - Betty Pershall

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Joe Garcia of the Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
