Clayton Brueggeman

Clayton D. Brueggeman was surrounded by the ones who loved him and who he loved when he passed on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at his home.

Born June 26, 1960 in Alton, he was a son of Mark W. Brueggeman, Sr. and Geraldine (Ford) Brueggeman.

A project manager for Environmental Maintenance Company, Clay was best known for his goofy and comforting demeanor. He loved his wife, kids, family, friends, dogs, hunting, naps and last but certainly not least, the St Louis Cardinals.

He married Joyce Edgar Sept. 21, 1984, and she survives, as well as his children, Courtney Brueggeman of Wood River and Jordan Brueggeman of O’Fallon, IL; three sisters, Cathy Houston of Texas, Cindy Pitt of Florida, and Kris Worthy of Rosewood Heights; and three brothers, Mark Brueggeman, Jr. of Wisconsin, his twin Kevin Brueggeman of Wood River, and Kenneth “Ben” Brueggeman of Edwardsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Brueggeman.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11a.m. on April 20th, 2024, led by Father Tom Liebler at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto IL. The service will be followed by a celebration of life held at the Wood River Moose Lodge.

Clay was a foster dog-parent for several dogs, and so memorial donations may be given to Havaheart Rescue, PO Box 14336 Springfield, MO 65814.  Memorials may also be given to the American Cancer Society.
