Christopher Johnson

Christopher W. Johnson, age 54 of Highland, Illinois, passed away at home Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Family and friends are gathering Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Greenville VFW Hall at 3:00 p.m., to remember Chris. All are welcome to come. A memorial mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland; date will be announced soon.  In lieu of flowers, plants, and gifts please make memorials to the family c/o Kayla Waggoner, a fund for grandson Konner, mail to Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home, 203 West Oak, Greenville, Illinois 62246.

Christopher was born May 28, 1971, in Lincoln, Illinois. He was the son of William O. and Maria (Bellegante) Johnson. Christopher married Regina Nelson on January 9, 1993, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. They were blessed with a daughter, Kayla Waggoner who lives in Lawrenceville, Illinois with her son Konner.

Christopher was the oldest of 4, surviving are his siblings: Chad Johnson (Tasha) of Mulberry Grove, Angie Willman (Jason) of Mulberry Grove, and Alisha Tischhauser (Ryan) of Greenville.

Chris worked at Essendant (United Stationers) in Greenville. He worked there for over 35 years where he started his career on the shipping dock and worked his way up to the General Manager of the building. Chris had a work ethic that was unmatched and he thought of each of his employees as family.

Chris was a loving husband, wonderful father, the world’s best Pop Pop, a wonderful son, a supportive uncle, and a great friend to many. He loved to play golf, travel to Hawaii, and spend summer months at Disney with his favorite “Disney Rider” buddy, Konner. Chris coached basketball for many years. He lived for coaching. He led his team to plenty of exciting victories, though he wasn’t afraid to pick up a few technicals along the way just to make sure the refs were paying attention. Chris was known for being the one who would do anything for anyone. If he was needed, he would always be there to lend a helping hand. Chris has left a lasting legacy and had an impact on so many lives. He will forever be missed.
