Alton, Illinois

Cheryl L. Norris, 68, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 8:51 am.

She was born on May 19, 1955 in Wood River, IL, the daughter of Robert and Alma (Tanner) Duvall.

Cheryl's real passion was people. She loved caring for anyone and everyone she came in contact with. She developed this passion during her time working with the Bethalto Nursing home and continued this as she became an aid for Zion Lutheran school in their preschool program. She carried this passion into her long tenured service for the late Don Brooks State Farm in Godfrey, IL where she retired following the passing of Don. Cheryl continued her servitude for others as she became the President of the Nursing Home Association for LaBella of Alton, where she worked diligently on behalf of the other residents alongside her selected sister, Bev, to accomplish things for those who couldn't fight for themselves. She loved working with all those working at La Bella in her finals years until the day she passed.  She enjoyed playing bingo, card games, dice games, and uplifting the community she was a part of.

Cheryl's passion for people was only trumped by the love she had for her family. No matter if it was being the football mom in the fall every year or the wrestling mom in the winters every year, you could always find Cheryl in the stands cheering on her boys. Those who knew her (and even those who didn't) knew her notorious screams and sayings from the stands through the years, as you could pick her out of the crowd every single time! Cheryl loved her family unconditionally and this love only grew as she became "maw maw" to her grandbabies.

Cheryl will be greatly missed by those who survive. Two sons, Josh (Shelby) Norris of Worden, and Robert (Molly) Norris of Edwardsville, and her two grandchildren, Hudson and Henley. She is also survived by her fur baby, who she was not able to bring with her, Ralphie.

Along with Her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Mark Duvall, and a granddaughter, Indie Rae Norris.

Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

The family will host a celebration of life at the Bethalto American Legion on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 1 to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested in memory of Cheryl to Missouri Baptist Hospital, Labor and Delivery Bereavement.
