Cheryl S. (nee: James) Alexakis, 63, of Bethalto passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Tomah, WI, on November 27, 1960, the daughter of Marlyn A. and Charlene S. (Bowsher) James. She was formerly married to James Alexakis.
Cheryl worked in the gaming industry of Las Vegas, NV, for 25 years before moving back to Bethalto in 2016. She was very spiritual. She loved to kid around and had a great sense of humor. You could catch her singing around her house at any given time. Cheryl loved animals of all kinds and she was a fan of art. Cheryl cherished spending time with her friends and family.
Along with her parents, Marlyn and Charlene, she is survived by her son, Craig Libke of Lansing, Iowa; two brothers and a sister, Mark James, Gregg (Cathy) James, and Vicki (Chanlee) Hall; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville.
