Charlotte Malone

Charlotte "Jean" Malone, 80, passed away 2: 45 am, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at her residence.

Born May 28, 1943 in Pin Oak Township, she was the daughter of Norman and Iva (McBride) Lewis.

She had worked as an Administrative Assistant to the President at Laclede Steel in Alton for 33 years before retiring in 1998.

Jean, a pastor's wife for 15 years, she taught Sunday School since she was 12 years old, providing instruction for the Primary, Teens, Jr. High, High School, College and Career levels.  She started the "Winning Women Conference" at Peace Church.

On January 5, 1962 in Edwardsville, she married Maurice David Malone. He survives.

Surviving also are a son, Michael Malone of Seattle, WA; daughter, Kelley (James) Oldham of Rosewood Heights;nine grandchildren, Samuel Pirtle, Daniel (Elizabeth) Malone, Madi Pirtle, Chip Malone, Charlotte Malone, Ivy Malone, Matthew Oldham, Morgan (Kevin) Pape, Logan Oldham; great grandson, Lennon Wallace Malone; and brothers, Jerry Lewis of Chicago, Dr. Darrell Lewis of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Shirley Johnson.

Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 12 pm, Saturday, October 7 at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. Dr. Tom Malone, Rev. Gary Clark and Pastor Rodney Durr will officiate.

Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials are suggested to the English Language Institute (ELI) c/o Sarah Malone and Camp Hope.
