Charlotte “Char” Marcella Grzeskowiak, 73, passed away at 5:58 am Monday, July 25, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on July 26, 1937 in Saint Louis, MO, the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Clement) Rodgers.
She married Henry J. Grzeskowiak on April 26, 1954 at St. Liborius Church in St. Louis, MO. He survives.
Char was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, the Red Hat Society, the Art Guild and the Senior Center in Kimberling City, MO. She enjoyed shopping, crafts and loved Christmas. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale and Stacy Grzeskowiak and Robert and Sara Grzeskowiak all of St. Charles, MO, Dianne Rion of St. Peters, MO, Mark and Tammy Grzeskowiak of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Glenn and Kim Grzeskowiak of St. Charles, MO and Kathleen and Don Conley of Bethalto; twelve grandchildren, Melissa Waltrip, Matt Grzeskowiak, Danny Grzeskowiak, Adrianna Conley, Scott Grzeskowiak, Maggie Grzeskowiak, Lindsay Grzeskowiak, Alex Conley, Jordan Grzeskowiak, Jessica Grzeskowiak, Jack Grzeskowiak and Jenna Grzeskowiak; one great granddaughter, Jaidyn Waltrip and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Diana Rodgers of Ellisville, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the funeral home with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
