Charlotte A. Schneider, 83, died at 3:23 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 at St. Anthony’s O.S.F. in Alton. Born January 9, 1933 in Alton, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Walters) Wegener. She attended Ursuline Academy in Arcadia, MO and graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1950. She loved art and took art classes at Lewis & Clark Community College. On October 4, 1952 she married Jacob B. Schneider, Jr. in Alton. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2000. Mrs. Schneider was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and co-owned and operated Wegener Grocery Store in Alton. Surviving are four daughters, Cindy Lusby (Mike) of Tomball, TX, Mary Beth Cresswell (Bob) of Cypress, TX, Pat Kelley (Dale) of Alvin, TX, and JoAnn Schneider of Godfrey, two sons, Tom Schneider of Godfrey, and Scott Schneider (Sylvia) of Estes Park, CO. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren (with one on the way), a brother, David Wegener of Godfrey and a sister, Mary Malone also of Godfrey. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, George Wegener. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2016. Monsignor Kenneth Steffen will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul School or the Alzheimer’s Association.
