Charles L. Williams, 73, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Born Aug. 24, 1950 in Phil Campbell, AL, he was the son of Charles Lindon Williams and Thelma Marie (Gossett) Cushman.
The U.S. Army veteran worked as a machinist for Olin Winchester for 40 years, retiring in 2015. Charles was a talented carpenter and woodworker. He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandkids. He also loved to travel, and he loved his dogs.
His wife, the former Debbie Lynn Powell, passed away Dec. 24, 2020.
Survivors include a son, Corey (Trese) Williams of Rosewood Heights; two daughters, Tonya (Levi) Chunn of Steelville, IL and Brittany Powell of Rosewood Heights; two grandchildren, Brylee Powell and Ryan Riccardi; a sister, Judy Diane Hockett of Rosewood Heights; and a great nephew, Kameron DePew of Rosewood Heights.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glinda Faye Smith; a brother-in-law, Michael Hockett and an aunt and uncle, Helen Greenwell and Harry Gossett.
Graveside services with military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
