Charles W. Rogers, 93, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at his home in Alton.  Born December 6, 1927 in Equality, IL, he was the son of Joseph and Myrtle (Cosby) Rogers.  Mr. Rogers served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Alton.  He worked as a pipefitter for Laclede Steel in Alton and retired as the sub-district director for the United Steel Workers of America.  ON December 6, 1947 he married the former Betty Garvin in Alton.  She preceded him in death on September 30, 2016.  Surviving is a daughter, Elaine Elliott (Ray) of Alton, a son, John Rogers of Alton, three grandchildren, Erica Elliott of Wood River, Ray and Heather Elliott of Bunker Hill, Charles Elliott (Brandy Weed) of Roxana and 12 great grandchildren.  Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by private funeral services.  Reverend Alex Melton will officiate.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors.  Memorials may be made to Heartland Baptist Church in Alton.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
