He was born on March 31, 1932, in Cortland, New York, and was the son of the late Charles William & Martha (Tyler) Pine Sr.
He graduated from Richfield Springs High School in Richfield Springs, New York, and supported his family financially through his work as a machinist at Lenhardt Tool & Die in Alton, where he retired in 1991. Most importantly, he supported his family spiritually along with many others as a minister, serving the Jerseyville congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses for almost 50 years. Charles was a good, kind, and generous man with an endearing sense of humor. He was dearly loved by all those who knew him and will be greatly missed.He married the former Mary Lou Shirley on Aug. 10, 1963 in Alton, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter & son in law, Jill & Stephen Wander, as well as two granddaughters, Lauren & Maren Wander all of Troy; three sisters, Joyce Adsit of Apalachin, NY., Dawn Allen of Cortland, NY., and Deloris Pine of Jerseyville; a sister in law, Mary B. Pine of Cobbs Creek, Va., as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Wendell Pine.
Private burial will take place at the Brady Cemetery in Akin, Il.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1257 N. State Street, Jerseyville, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the Jerseyville Kingdom Hall or to the family in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
