Charles W. Lynch Jr., age 87, went home to be with his best friend, our Heavenly Father, on Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. Anthony Health Center, with his family by his side.
He was born January 11, 1929, in Alton, the son of Charles W. and Anna (Robinson) Lynch Sr.Charles will be remembered for his charming smile, joy, bravery, a great laugh, being a giving person, and his awesome Christmas gifts. He was a man of wisdom, always sharing his wit, quotes, quips and amazing stories. He was also an entrepreneur of many successful businesses. Charles was filled with love, and was a very caring man. He served in the Korean War with the US Army. He graduated from Shurtleff College with a bachelors degree. He was very loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mary and Ken Buttry of Alton, Patrick and Luda Lynch of Morris, IL, and Shawn Lynch of Wood River; the loving mother of his children, Jeanne Lynch of Wood River; his grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie, Melissa, Lori, Zach and Taylor, Dashawn, Michael Patrick, Anna and Chris, Sarah, Deborah, and Ksenia; his great-grandchildren, Mabry, Kamry, Logan,Wyatt, Ethan, Scarlett, Korie, Spencer and Jeanne; and many friends
He is preceded in death by his loving parents; and a beloved son, Joseph W. Lynch.
A private memorial service honoring him will be held at a later date followed by burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
