Charles W. Foster

Charles W. Foster, 80, passed away at 1:38 am Wednesday, March 18, 2015 John Cochran VA Medical Center. 

He was born on July 27, 1934 in Hamburg, IL, the son of Charles Lee and Katherine (Stewart) Foster.

He married Rosa Foutch on June 18, 1956 in Virginia.  She survives.

Charlie served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He was a 3rd Class Gunners mate on the USS Stickell DDR 888 Destroyer.  He worked on the worked on the furnace caster at Laclede Steel until his retirement.  He was a member of Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in Wood River.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and always made sure his cars were very clean.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Jewell Foster, JR of Medora, IL and a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Don Webb of Villa Ridge, MO; one grandson, Jamie Foster and a great grandson, Cade Foster both of Bethalto; his siblings and their spouses, Tom and Coke Foster of Muscatine, Iowa, Ted and Charlotte Foster of Muscatine, Iowa, Fred and Linda Foster of New Orleans, Frank and Robin Foster of Fulton, MO, and Mary Jo and Wilburn Cole of Keokuk Iowa; several nieces and nephews and a very special pal, his beagle, Angel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Sue Cole.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in Rosewood Heights.

Funeral services will be at 11am Saturday, March 21 2015 at the church with Pastor Brian Magnuson officiating.

Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to Vaughn Hill Church of Christ or the Bethalto Police Department.
