Charles William Vaughn, 82, of Wood River, IL, formerly of Royal Lakes, IL, died at Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, IL on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 12:34 pm. He was born November 18, 1941, in Bunker Hill, IL to Charles James Vaughn & Delphia Marie Mangels Vaughn. He married Phyllis Darlene Tucker Vaughn on September 9, 1975, in Bunker Hill, IL. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2021. He was retired after having been a draftsman for Hurst Rosche Engineers.
Charles was a veteran of the US Army after having served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Bethalto and Piasa Black Powder Burners. He enjoyed knife collecting and fishing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Linda Marie (Tim) VanArsdale of Patricksburg, IN, Charla Mae (Micky) Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Amanda Lael Vaughn of Wood River, IL, grandchildren, Ashley (Will) Parmenter of Indianapolis, IN, Sierra Hope VanArsdale of Patricksburg, IN, Darcie Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Braden Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, MO, great-grandchildren, Jaxson VanArsdale, Matthew VanArsdale, David VanArsdale, brother, Jimmy (Joan) Vaughn and sister, Vicky Anderson. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and spouse. Friends may call on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Cornerstone Church, Bethalto from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. where memorial services will follow at the church at 11 a.m.
