Charles Edmiaston

Charles "Ron" Edmiaston, age 64, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Grassy, MO, on May 18, 1945, son of the late Granvel R. & Thelma A. (Porter) Edmiaston.

Ron was served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Laclede Steel as a Chain Leader working there for 38 years and retiring in 2000. He attended the Bethalto United Methodist Church, was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 3643. He loved to drink coffee with his friends at the Pancake Ranch, fish, garden, watch football, play the guitar, listen to country music and was a big Dale Ernhart fan.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Angela & Billy Rook of Downs, IL; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy & LaDona Edmiaston of Norman, IL; the children's mother, Donna Miller; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriel, Alyssa, Abigail and Emma; one sister, Faye Edmiaston of Bethalto; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike & Nancy Edmiaston of Bethalto; several nieces and nephews and he had several friends.

Preceded in death by his patents; one brother, Robert Edmiaston and one sister, Carol Puckett.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Bethalto United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with full military rites by the Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
