Charles Scheffel

Charles Robert Scheffel, 73, passed away on September 20, 2019, at his home. He was born on September 10, 1946, to Robert Franklin & Loretta May (Purler) Rose-Scheffel in Alton. Charles was a US Army veteran and was in the service from 1965 to 1967. He was a retired meat cutter and was in the Local 88 Meat Cutters Union. Charles is survived by his children: Kelli (Randall) Williams of Texas & Jeff Scheffel of Texas; his stepdaughter: Kris Burke of Colorado; his grandchildren: Blake Williams of Texas, Austin & Ben Scheffel of Texas, Wade & Brody Burke of Colorado; his siblings: James (Linda) Scheffel, Ruth (Gus) Eschbach, Roger (Renee) Scheffel, and Shelly (Brad) Malin; his loving companion: Pam Bock and her family: Kristina (Chuck) Goodbrake, Carrie Williams, Sheri Williams, Bobby (Raelynn) Williams, and Erin Bock. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 9:00 am- 11:00 am at Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 11:00 am at Bethel Baptist Church located at 29515 Kane Road in Jerseyville. Military rites will be conducted by Jerseyville American Legion Post #492. Officiating the service will be Pastor Joel W. Lohr and Pastor Ed Haun. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BJC Hospice of Greene County or the 5A's Animal Shelter.
