Charles (Chuck) Porter Jr., 56, died at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in his home in Mt. Olive, Illinois. He leaves behind his parents, Charles Porter Sr. (Lisa) Porter of Cottage Hills, IL and Pamela (Kevin) Young of Brighton, IL. Besides his parents he leaves two sisters Sarah (Josh) Lewis, of Wood River and Lindsay Porter, of Mt. Olive, five children: Heather (Brandon) Sweitzer, Bradley (Sylvia) Porter, David Ryan Porter, Jessica Porter and Nichole Porter, seven grandchildren: Wyatt Blumenberg, Julina, Aiyana, Nicklause and Ellie Sweitzer, Amelia Porter, Joseph Frazier and his constant companion Snow. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emmett and Bernadine Porter, and Roy and Freda Staats and a grandchild Astina Sweitzer.
Chuck worked several years for Wertz Welding as a driver/mechanic. He was happiest working in his garage or riding his motorcycle or target shooting. Proficient at fabricating and welding, he also enjoyed upholstery work as well as writing poetry. He was passionate about his country, loved to ride motorcycles with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and Snow. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
