Charles Nolte, 89, passed away at 3:05 am on Saturday January 6, 2018, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on June 11, 1928 in Golden Eagle, IL, the son of the late John and Theresa (Arnold) Nolte. He married Marietta Snyders on October 23, 1948 at St. Barbara’s in Batchtown. She survives.
Charles was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels. He was a retired grain and livestock farmer. Charles was a lifelong farmer, he was a past president of the Calhoun Fair Board, he was a past member of the Soil Conservation Board, he was a past Brussels School Boards member for over 30 years, and he was a volunteer fireman in Brussels.
In addition to his wife, Marietta, he is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Rod (Margaret) Nolte, and Cliff (Yvonne) Nolte; six grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Love, Kayla (Bruce) Bonebrake, Kevin (Mandy) Nolte, Steven (Sarah) Nolte, Brandon Nolte and Fiancé Ashley, and Greg Nolte and special friend Ashley; five great grandchildren Hope, Emersyn, Wesley, Kolbe, Clara; and two sisters-in-law Evelyn Nolte and Bernadine Snyders
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, one sister Lucille (Everett) Hagen; brother August Nolte, brother John (Francis) Nolte; one brother-in-law, Conrad Snyders; and one sister-in-law, Nina (Igo) Haynie and brothers-in-laws, Richard Igo and Mike Haynie.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels with Fr. Don Roberts celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brussels.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Mary’s School, South Calhoun Ambulance or Family Choice.
