Charles Michael “Chad” Roe, 36, died on Friday, February 24, 2012. Born April 11, 1975 in Alton, he was the son of Bill and Gail (Farniok) Roe both of Godfrey. Chad was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.

He was a former member of the Operating Engineers Union in Omaha, NE. He had a life- long love of heavy equipment, tractors, and classic cars. He enjoyed collecting nostalgic brochures about construction equipment.

Surviving are his parents and a brother, Jamie Roe of Godfrey. Also surviving is his grandmother, Phyllis Farniok of Macomb, IL, aunts and uncles, Dan Roe (Kathy) of Springfield, IL and children, Jeff, Janine, and Holly; Linda Fisher (Bill) of Sugar Grove, IL and children, Jennifer, Carrie, Marc, and Laura; Jerry Farniok (Pam) of Castle Rock, CO, and children, Chad, Todd, and Brittany; Pam Farniok of Springfield, IL; Vicki Ludolph of Nauvoo, IL, and children, Elizabeth and Emily; Jacki Lee of Macomb, and children, Travis, Scott, Allison, and Erin; Tim Farniok (Jamie) of Dallas City, IL, and children, Chris and Hilary; Mike Farniok (Carla) of Rushville, IL, and children, Jessica, Trevor, and Ashlyn; Pat Farniok of Macomb; and Craig Farniok of Godfrey, and children, Jared and Zachary. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Charles and LeVetta Roe, and his maternal grandfather, James Farniok.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Father Jerry Wickenhauser and Deacon Bill Kessler will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or St. Ambrose grade school endowment. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
