Charles Chappell

Dardenne Prairie, MOCharles Lee “Charlie” Chappell, 92, passed away at 12:57 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at NHC of St. Charles, MO.  She was born May 25, 1924 in Centralia, IL the daughter of the late Charles V. and Aleene (Ripplinger) Cates.  On January 10, 1953, she married Robert T. Chappell and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2008.  She worked for Carson Jewelers in downtown Alton for 25 years, also for Peavey  Company, now Con Agra for 20 years.  She spent several years in Texas and while there worked for L.A. Utilities, a construction company.  She was a member of Eastern Star and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of Eagles Auxiliary.  She is survived by two daughters and one son; Robbyn (Loren) Chiodi of Missouri City, TX, Lisa (Kenneth) Scheve of Ballwin, MO and Robert C. (Jana) Chappell of Lake St. Louis, MO.  Six granddaughters; Dr. Angela Sanford, Veronica Scheve, Danielle Chiodi Jones, Courtney Chiodi, Clare Chappell and Erin Chappell, four great grandchildren; Blaise Sanford, Cecelia Sanford, Samson Sanford, and Charles Ray Jones IV,  one sister; Sandra Nealy of Centralia, IL.  She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters; Arthur V. Cates, Maurietta Bohner, Louise Brown, and Beverly Gockel and one great grandson; Teaden James Chiodi  Brown.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 with Dr. Glen Greenwood officiating.  Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation .  Additional information and online guestbook may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
