Charles Hoercher
Granite City | Save
Charles D. “Arch” Hoercher, 75, of Granite City, Illinois, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 4, 2025, at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 21, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois, Arch was the beloved son of the late Delbert A. and Tommie Mae (Daugherty) Hoercher. He married the love of his life, Brenda S. (Browning) Hecht-Hoercher, on April 24, 2009, in Branson, Missouri. She survives and cherishes their many years together.
Arch dedicated 50 years to his career as a pharmacist, retiring on December 4, 2022, from the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis after 17 years of committed service. His passion for helping others extended far beyond his profession. A faithful member of Calvary Life Church and a devoted member of Gideons International, Arch lived his faith with quiet strength and unwavering dedication.
Known affectionately as “Mr. Fix It,” Arch had a knack for repairing just about anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved to read, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a son, Patrick (Katie) Hoercher of Houston, Texas; step-son, David (Sarah) Hecht of Mascoutah; step-daughter, Kristen (Erik) Cole of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Bhrett, Scarlett, Cameron, Delaney and Lakelyn; brother, John Michael (Colleen) Hoercher of Mascoutah; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Wayne Hoercher.
A celebration of Arch’s life will be held with visitation on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Life Church, 4650 Maryville Road in Granite City, with Reverend Mark Maynard officiating. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Life Church or Gideons International and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
