JERSEYVILLE – Charles Edward Webster, 89, died at 12:55 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville. He was born in Fieldon on August 7, 1927, one of four children born to the late Edward & Rosa (Fryman) Webster. He married the former Naomi G. Boomer on October 10, 1952 in Jerseyville and together they shared in 56 years of marriage before her death on February 27, 2009. Charles worked as a Crain Operator for Laclede Steel Co. where he retired after 40 years of service. In addition to his career with Laclede, he also spent countless hours in the tractor, farming in Jersey County. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed tending to his large garden, and always had more than enough food to go around. It was the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, however, that brought him the greatest joys in life. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Chuck Sethaler of Godfrey; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Bradley & Pamela Webster of Imperial, MO; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie & Wade Austin of Godfrey; Katie Sethaler, and her companion Joe Stafford of Alton; Kristen & Greg Cress of Dow; Casey Webster, and her companion Cody Berry of Dow; and Travis Webster of Dow; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Brantley, Maggie Austin and Jaxon Cress; a sister, Virginia Leonard of St. Louis, MO. ; as well as a former daughter-in-law, Kindra Webster of Dow. In addition to his parents and his wife, Naomi, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Baker and a brother, Leroy Webster. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 with Rev. Ted Engelesdorfer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville or to the American Heart Association. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
