Charles Melton

Charles E. Melton, 77  passed away at 8:30 am Monday July 4, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.He was born on March 1, 1939 in Alton, IL the son of the late Joseph L. and Lucille (Maple) Melton.Charles married Frances D. (Couch) on June 23, 1963 in Alton.  She survives.He was employed as a Laborer for the Labor Local 338 Union in Wood River, IL. He was a handyman and loved working on all kinds of things, he enjoyed nice cars, music, playing poker, watching sports, but most of all he loved spoiling and taking care of his family, especially his kids and grand kids.Charles is survived by one daughter; Vivian Mead of Wyoming and two sons: Timothy Melton of Bethalto and Terry Melton and his spouse Jennifer of Wood River; four grandchildren: Gabriela Smith, Garrett Smith, KayLee Melton and Timothy Melton, one great grandson: Redick  Zolnosky, and one brother: Richard Melton and his spouse Lorene of Brighton. and his dog “Buddy”.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five siblings; Joseph Melton, Herbert Melton, Lillian Flure, Barbara Budde and Mary Lou Melton.In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm until time of service at 7 pm Friday July 8, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.Memorials may be made to: American Diabetes AssociationOnline condolences and a guestbook may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf .com
