Charles Andrew “Chuck” Knippel, 52, passed away at 7:54 a.m. Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his home.
Born July 23, 1964 in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of Rev. Dr. Charles T. and Donna Marie (Niehaus) Knippel.
Chuck had worked as an HVAC technician for Hussmann Refrigeration. He also worked for radio station KFUO, Concordia Lutheran Seminary, and most recently owned his own automotive business in Granite City. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River, and he loved local auto racing, at one time owning his own race car.
He is survived by his father, Rev. Dr. Charles T. Knippel, a sister, Anne Marie (Jerry) Glassmeyer, and a nephew, Gregory J. (Kacie) Bamert, Jr., all of East Alton; and his fiancée, Beth Cearley of Bethalto.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Paynic Home for Funerals, and will continue at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate.
Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
